Olympia

Sixty miles south of Seattle on the southern tip of the Puget Sound, you’ll find Washington’s capital: Olympia. The quaint, historic downtown that borders the water, and the sprawling Capitol campus are just a few of the beautiful places to enjoy the views. There’s more than 40 public parks and trails for you to enjoy throughout Olympia. Some residents say that these parks are the best place to get out of town without ever leaving the city. There’s plenty to learn and do in Olympia. It’s home to Evergreen State College and South Puget Sound Community College. The city is mainly supported by jobs through the state government, providing a stable economy. There are many unique neighborhoods in Olympia each offering something slightly different. The South Capitol neighborhood is well-established, dotted with historic homes and old-growth trees. Southwest of downtown, featured around Ken Lake, the Lakemoor neighborhood is close-knit and offers a mid-century, planned community vibe with easy access to amenities. The Eastside neighborhood was historically a working-class neighborhood, with smaller homes, bordering on commercial areas. The eastside is known today for its active and community-oriented home owners association. If you’re looking for a newer, upscale home, then look at the Cairn Road area. There’s some incredible views from the homes in the East Bay Drive neighborhood, if a view of the Budd Inlet is high on your list. And the Northwest neighborhood is quaint and quiet. It’s considered one of the more affordable neighborhoods while still being close in to downtown. If you’re interested in learning more about Olympia, let us know. We’d love to show you around and help you find your dream home.

DuPont

Located near Puget Sound and situated between Olympia and Tacoma sits DuPont, Washington. Once a company town in the 20th century, today this small, thriving city is a peaceful haven for its residents. DuPont’s growth has been intentionally planned, making it thoughtfully laid out for residents. Downtown DuPont has everything you’d need, including great restaurants like Farrellis. Its intentional planning also means there is a wide variety of neighborhoods and types of housing to choose from, from apartments and condominiums to charming small single family homes and larger homes on expansive lots. There are lots of different neighborhoods to choose from in DuPont. The Historic Village is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, in part because it is an excellent example of what company towns were like across Pierce County in the early 1900s. Northwest Landing is also a popular area. This is a mixed-use planned community situated next to the Historic Village. Residents enjoy Northwest Landing’s peaceful tree-lined streets and craftsman-style houses. Regardless of where you live in DuPont, you’ll find a plethora of green-belts and trails across the city. There are many neighborhood parks, like Hoffman Hill Neighborhood Park, which is tucked over on the southside of the neighborhood. It’s a lovely place to rest or enjoy a picnic, or a good stopping point if you’re making your way across DuPont’s extensive trail system, perfect for outdoor recreation and wildlife watching. In fact, next to city hall is the Sequalitchew Creek Trail that leads down to Sequalitchew Beach. This trailway is home to an abundance of local wildlife, from bald eagles to beavers, and down at the beach you just might catch a glimpse of some of the areas gray whales, harbor seals, or marbled murrelet.
